Mental Health First Aid Training
One in four people in the UK will have a mental health problem at some point in their lifetime; poor mental health carries an economic and social cost of £105 billion a year in England and during 2018, there were 600,000 cases of work related stress, depression or anxiety.
With statistics like this, employers can play a pivotal role in better supporting individuals with mental health conditions in the workplace.
First Aid for mental health is the initial support provided to a person experiencing a mental health problem until professional help is received or until the crisis is resolved. Following an employer's first aid needs assessment, it may indicate that it will be beneficial to have personel trained to identify and understand symptoms and be able to support someone who might be experiencing a mental health issue. Leyland Training Services are now able to offer a range of Ofqual regulated first aid for mental health courses to support employers, through the awarding organisation First Aid Awards Ltd. There are three courses on offer at different levels.
